Carly reviews a waterproof mascara by Dior. Already loved by makeup artists for backstage beauty, will it pass Carly’s tests as a clump-free formula?
DIORSHOW WATERPROOF MASCARA: Presenting makeup artists’ favorite mascara – in a new waterproof version! A staple of the catwalk and summer makeup routines alike, Diorshow Waterproof elevates the eyes to star status in one sweep. Lashes are instantly thickened, lengthened and seductively curved, while Dior’s exclusive Aquastop water-resistant technology ensures that they stay perfect in any circumstance.
CARLY SAYS: I have looooong, painfully straight, blonde eyelashes. Ever since I got my hands on an eyelash curler and waterproof mascara in 9th grade I have rarely left my house without dawning a coat of mascara and giving my lashes a few good pinches in the curler. And boy, have I tried just about every mascara known to woman over the years!
The four “must-haves” for me when it comes to a good mascara are: #1 it has to be waterproof, otherwise my eyelashes will not stay curled and look even straighter than they do without mascara. I think it must be something about the “stiffness” that waterproof mascara seems to provide in contrast to regular mascara, which weighs my lashes down. #2 My eyelashes need to feel soft, and look smooth (no clumps)! #3 It has to come off easily with makeup remover. The worst is when you have to literally scrub the mascara off with a wash cloth, and lose half your eyelashes in the process! Yikes. And, lastly #4 the brush is really important! It has to work magic with your eyelashes—lengthen, thicken, separate, evenly coat, etc.
These four things may seem very simple and straightforward, but trust me, it took me years—lots and lots of them, to figure out what a good mascara is, and should be. Especially if you are a “must have waterproof” mascara type like I am. Over they years I have found mascaras that might do one or two of these things, but would still be missing something. And, tragically I have found others over the many years that hit all four criteria, but to my dismay they were eventually discontinued!!
FINALLY after close to two years of searching drug stores, department stores, and the internets, (since the last mascara I loved was discontinued), I found the best mascara I have ever, ever, ever used. It hits every, single criteria on the mark and then some: Diorshow Waterproof Mascara. You can purchase it at sephora.com in jet black, brown or bright blue. I have been using the jet black, and tempted to try the bright blue for something fun.
I cannot speak highly enough about Diorshow Waterproof Mascara. It has a soft, non-clumpy feel on my lashes. It’s actually hard to believe that it’s waterproof, but it indeed is. It also comes off as easily as it goes on. The brush took some getting used to (It is really big), but it does AMAZING things for my eyelashes.

Now that I have found Diorshow Waterproof, I am thinking of buying a case of it…just in case it is eventually discontinued. Ha!
