MET GALA SPECIAL! BFF Beauty at the Costume Institute MET Gala

BFF Beauty girls get ‘beauty-ful’ for the most glamorous night of the year, the Costume Institute MET Gala!

BFF Beauty girl, Kristin, along with extraordinary makeup artist and simply fabulous person in general, D’angelo, were ‘all hands on deck’ this past Monday (May 7th) helping fellow BFF Beauty girl, Jenni get ready for the MET Gala.

On top of feeling honored to be able to attend the MET Gala in the first place, I was ecstatic to also be able to spend the day with Kristin and D’angelo.  What a fantastic team of Beauty experts, I couldn’t have asked for a better duo to primp and pamper me…and we had so much fun!!  A big thank you to both Kristin and D’angelo for making my day & night so very special!

D’angelo did my hair as well, in a gorgeous low bun…it was so elegant and comfortable.  I loved it!!!

When it came time to do my eyelashes, D’angelo was nothing less than a master at precise application.  First of all, it only took him about 10 minutes from start to finish applying each individual lash – and the end results looked and felt spectacular!  They felt so natural,I had no idea I even had extension lashes on.  Take a look…

I will later be reviewing some of the makeup D’Angelo used for the special occasion in depth, but for now I just want to show you some pictures of the Lip products used to create my favorite look – “60’s Pink” fun & vibrant lips!

60’s Pink Lips!

D’angelo first stained my lips with a beautiful full true pink color.  He then combined Mac’s Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Overtime with Cle de peau Beaute Lipstick in color no. 19.  Then he outlined my upper lip line with a neutral color lip pencil, and finally finished with Cle de peau Beaute Lip gloss in color no. 5.  I carried with me in my bag, both the Cle de peau lipstick and lip gloss, and of course my secret weapon Rouge Bunny Rouge’s Devlish Nectar Lip Potion (reviewed here)

I have to say, with only 1 or 2 lip gloss re-applications topped off with RBR Lip Potion, my lip color lasted ALL NIGHT!  In fact, all my makeup lasted throughout the night and I’ve included pictures to prove it!
D’angelo did such a fantastic job, and I highly recommend booking him for any or all special occasions – like I said before he’s simply FABULOUS! Below is his Bio, and you can also check out his website (here)

This is me all finished with hair and makeup, dressed in my Roland Mouret gown and ready to go to the red carpet! …

And finally, some pictures from the Gala…but let me just say that I’m not one to ever get star-struck, let alone ask for a picture with a celebrity – but when I saw two of BFF Beauty Girls absolute favorite actresses ever…I just couldn’t resist…

The impossibly beautiful Betty Draper!
(aka January Jones – who happens to be even more gorgeous in person)

The absolutely stunning and incredibly talented actress – Marion Cotillard

The spring 2012 exhibition organized by The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art was Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations.

Two Italian designers, two different eras, one imagined friendship. In the spirit of the ‘what-if’ these two visionaries  had a conversation about fashion, the Spring 2012 Costume Institute exhibit explores the worlds of two innovators, Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, by highlighting their striking similarities (and the subtleties of their differences). Whether debating a women’s body or fashion as art, one can’t help but believe that had their paths truly crossed they would have made for interesting cohorts…

And lastly, any good beauty blogger must show pictures of hair and makeup at the END of the night, so you can see if it lasted…well not only did my makeup last all through the night, it still looked perfect!  And when I took my hair down from the up-do, it looked as if I just stepped out of the salon.  The following ‘after the party ended’ pictures, are true testaments to D’angelos excellent (and long lasting) work!
