I know supermodel Cindy Crawford swears by this guy, but this mask is NOT for the faint of heart! It did some crazy things to my skin when I used this, and I think I will be afraid to use this a second time for fear of another breakout! I tried this mask yesterday and left it on for the maximum time recommended, 10 minutes, because I normally do not have very sensitive skin. My skin can actually take a lot! So, I went ahead and left the mask on for the maximum time..it says between 5 and 10 minutes. I was not too thrilled the next day when my face was full of little pimples. In Dr. Sebagh’s defense, there is a very clear warning label on the box(see below). I probably should have done the patch test as it suggested. Unfortunately, I did not.
I completely broke out today with little pimples on both cheeks forehead and even on my nose! I think that this mask should be used with caution if at all. There are some much more enjoyable deep exfoliating masks out there than to risk your skin looking like a pizza the next day with this one. Overall I would not recommend buying this as you would have to have the toughest of tough skin to use it regularly(twice a week). Therefore, it is just not worth the $126 to risk these kinds of consequences.
There were some positives though. When I first put on the mask, it felt like things were going well. I liked the texture, the smell, even the orange color! I liked how it felt thick and tingley but not burning my skin. It certainly felt like it was really doing something good melting away the dead skin cells! It was just doing a little too much! I am sure my skin will calm down in a few days, but it’s just a little annoying is all. Yes, this is an annoying Deep Exfoliating Mask, but it means well. I have since found out that Dr. Sebagh makes a Deep Exfoliating Mask for SENSITIVE skin. Here is the description:
“This deep exfoliating mask was created with sensitive skin in mind. Exfoliates the dead layers of the skin for faster cell turnover, reduces sensitivity and redness and reduces pigmentation, particularly useful for darker skinned patients with pigmented acne scars and melasma (pregnancy mask).”
It’s even OK for pregnant women Perhaps I will try that one next time even though I am not pregnant.
