REVIEW: Jane Scrivner Nourishing Cleanser vs. Eve Lom Cleanser
Jane Scrivner Nourishing Cleanser is a cleansing balm so similar to the wildly popular Eve Lom Cleanser that I had to do a side by side comparison. They are both similarly priced, boast natural ingredients, and they both come with a little wash cloth to follow almost the exact same steps with (Jane Scrivner’s is actually a terry cloth mitt). So what is the difference? Well, to start, the Eve Lom Cleanser is $5 dollars more for .2oz more in the jar.
The BIG difference is in the ingredients!
Jane Scrivner Nourishing Cleanser uses over 87% certified organic ingredients with the balance of 13% (beeswax and essential oils)being totally natural. The ingredients of Jane Scrivner’s Nourishing Cleanser are as follows: Organic Jojoba Oil, Beeswax, Essential Oils of Ylang Ylang, Elemi, Eucalptus, Frankincense, Lemongrass, Lavender, Myrrh, Sandalwood and Sweet Orange…
Eve Lom Cleanser, $80
Whereas the ingredients of Eve Lom’s are: PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM (MINERAL OIL), PEG-30 LANOLIN, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, BIS-DIGLYCERYL POLYACYLADIPATE-2, ALUMINUM STEARATE, THEOBROMA CACAO (COCOA) SEED BUTTER, PEG-75 LANOLIN, CHAMOMILLA RECUTITA (MATRICARIA) FLOWER OIL, EUGENIA CARYOPHYLLUS (CLOVE) LEAF OIL, EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS LEAF OIL, HUMULUS LUPULUS (HOPS) CONE OIL, PHENOXYETHANOL, METHYLPARABEN, BUTYLPARABEN, ETHYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN, ISOBUTYLPARABEN, EUGENOL, LIMONENE.!!!
The Eve Lom Cleanser has SO many more ingredients! The chemicals and parabens in it are not exactly great for your skin. Both of these products work very much the same way except I would much rather be applying the simple list of ingredients in the Jane Scrivner cleanser to my face in the long run. Eve Lom’s Cleanser is good, but I prefer to use as much organic ingredients on my face as possible these days. Here is the instructional video from Eve Lom and from Jane Scrivner:
While the feel and the consistency of the product as well as the overall experience are similar, I feel the Eve Lom cleanser will have a long term detrimental effect on my skin with all those chemicals and parabens in it. I also would not recommend the Eve Lom cleanser for someone with sensitive skin either. The Jane Scrivner cleanser has 11 simple ingredients which are mostly essential oils and is a great product for removing make up and keeping the skin nourished an hydrated. I much prefer the smell of Jane Scrivner’s Nourishing Cleanser. Jojoba is my favorite! Jojoba is actually a wax ester, not a true oil. It is amazing for fine lines and wrinkles. The wax esters in our skin deteriorate as we get older, and their job is to retain moisture and keep skin smooth and elastic. Using Jojoba can help maintain these levels of moisture and elasticity. Bottom line: Sometimes it is better to go with the less hyped product with less ingredients!
