Guest Writer and Beauty BFF, Carly and her beautiful baby boy

For the last month I have been testing out MyChelle Dermaceuticals Sun Shield SPF 28.  It is a chemical-free formula with “ZinClear” and Titanium Dioxide to shield against UV damage.  It is formulated for all skin types, which kind of worried me a bit with my sensitive facial skin.  But, I am happy to report this sunscreen has been absolutely fabulous on all fronts!  It’s unscented, which is a nice change compared to most traditional chemical sunscreens.  I have been using it on my face, arms, and legs before I cycle, and my entire body at the swimming pool, and although it does not say anything about being water resistant on the packaging, it seems to hold through sweat and a few dips in the pool pretty well.  I have also been using it on my one-year old son, and it has not caused any irritation on his delicate baby skin, and has done a superb job at keeping sun from damaging his brand new skin—which I am always so grateful for!
A few pictures of MyChelle Sun Shield swatches on my leg and blended in…

What I love most about it (besides that it is so safe to use, and works so well) is how smooth it goes on.  It is clear coverage; “ZinClear,” and unlike most physical blocking sunscreen, you can’t see it once it is applied.  It also does a great job moisturizing and soothing skin–I feel like I am getting a bonus moisturizing aspect.  And a little goes a really long way!  Lastly, the packaging is so beautiful—it looks like it was specifically designed for a spa or yoga center. It calms me just to look at it.
I have to say, the BFF Beauty girls, Jenni and Kristin, have really helped me change my entire approach to sunscreen.  I feel they have provided such a great education on the types of sunscreen, and the importance of using it daily, and using “safe” sunscreens.  See their ‘Best Sunscreen’ picks for 2012 (HERE) and their ‘How to read your sunscreen label’ (HERE.)
Also having a baby is a huge motivation for re-thinking sunscreen—you want to protect their precious baby skin, but not with harsh, dangerous chemicals that can harm them almost as badly as the sun.  I love MyChelle Dermaceuticals Sun Shield.  It is by far the best sunscreen I have ever used, and I will definitely continue to be a loyal user of this product.
